FO: Cable Collar

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

I just finished this little cowl, from a kit from Sanjo Silk. The kit came with two yarns, a single ply of pure silk and a strand of mohair silk, which are held double to produce the cowl. The kit also came with the pattern, called the Cable Collar. It was a simple and straightforward pattern, but I did make a mistake and have to rip back. The pattern calls for two needle sizes, and has you cast on with the larger size and then immediately switch to the smaller size for the ribbing. After the ribbing you are meant to switch back to the larger size needle, but I was in the zone and just kept going. I ripped back to the ribbing once I realized, and it didn't take very long to finish. I knit exactly to pattern using the recommended needles. It was a very pleasant selfish knit in the midst of several test knits, and I am very happy with the finished object. It fits very well, and it doubles as a head band. I wear my hair in a high bun 95% of the time, so a head band gets more wear than a hat.

On top of the cowl are several colourful freshwater pearl stitch markers, in shades of yellow and green. Almost out of frame, two small balls of yarn are visible. One is a multicoloured single ply in shades of mustard gold and blue, the other is an olive green mohair silk.]
