FO: Masham Spin

Updated: May 16, 2021

This yarn was spun from a non-superwash 100% Masham top (150 g) purchased from The Small Bird Workshop. I used a short forward draw with very light smoothing. The yarn was spun Z and plied S, with a twist angle of 30° and a WPI of 8, making an Aran weight yarn. There was a total of 338 yards (unwashed) in one skein, with a grist of 1022 ypp. It was difficult to achieve a consistent yarn at some points, due to small neps or short bits of fibre within the top, which I picked out as I came across them. However, the inconsistencies evened out after washing. The yarn was finished by soaking, thwacking, and then hanging to dry. It was spun between April and May of 2021.
